Airport Blues

The airport taxi ride

Unwelcome pause for thought

Caught in memories and faces

Each one special, each a happy place

Thankfully

They are baggage that is light as silk

Needing no check in

Safely, joyfully, stowed within

Ready for every flight

Every journey in life

Ready to be opened any moment

For instant delight

An espresso for the soul

On days that are grey

And in moments where

Misfortune refuses to stay away

Parting is sad

But like mountains, these joyous times

Sparkle on the horizon

Memory monuments, calling us to find them

If everything must start and end

Then let's repeat it

Again and again, and again

Until next time, my friends
